First Hair Cut

Cale went for his first haircut today! He did so good. Bryan sat in the chair and held him. He didnt cry or even fuss. He was very interested in what Tina was doing. He kept looking up to see her scissors. He even did good for the clippers. I was afraid the buzzing may scare him, but he didnt even flinch! He is turning into such a big boy!

Here is the BEFORE picture

And the AFTER picture with Tina

New Car Seat

We (more like I) decided that it was time for Cale to get a new car seat. I was really struggling to carry him in his carrier, much less lift it in and out of the Tahoe. So we went this weekend and got him a big boy seat. He is still facing the back because he is not old enough to turn around yet. He seems to really like it. I think it is because he can see more now. I am just glad that I dont have to lug him in the carrier anymore :)

Silly Boy

When Cale woke up from his nap, this is how I found him. He is usually in the corner of the bed, but today he was turned sideways chewing on his block. I always keep 1-2 toys in his bed for him to play with when he wakes up. They are always out of reach so they don't bother him while he sleeps. When he wakes up, he scoots to them so he can play with them (chew on them). Today he had his block and had turned sideways. He is so funny. I just had to snap a few pics. Once he spotted me, he was full-on cheesing!

Pictures

I haven't posted any recent pictures of Cale lately. With us being gone last weekend, it has taken all week to recover. So here are a couple of Cale playing with (more like eating) his caterpillar.

My Award....

I have been awarded by several of my friends, so I figured I better post this before I get in trouble :)

The rules of the award:

1) Choose a minimum of 7 blogs that you find brilliant in content or design.

2) Show the 7 winners names and links on your blog, and leave a comment informing them that they were prized with "Honest Scrap." Well, there's no prize, but they can keep the nifty icon.

3) List at least 10 honest things about yourself.

Ten things about me....

1. I love being a mother. Cale has changed my life in more ways than I ever thought possible!

2. I am very OCD about so many things. It is really bad. I have a really hard time letting Bryan put the dishes away because I know he wont do it right. Everything has its perfect place!

3. There is not a day that goes by that I don't miss my Dad. I wish he would have made it long enough to meet Cale.

4. My Mom is my best friend. We talk almost every day.

5. I am totally addicted to blogging. I have to wait until Cale is napping or in bed to get on, but I look forward to it daily!

6. I love corn dogs from Callahan BBQ. Yes they serve corn dogs. They are delicious! You should try one!

7. Singing in the car is one of my favorite things. Especially to CDs. When I get a new CD I listen to it over and over until I know every word to every song!

8. I am not a morning person!!!!! Cale is helping me to change that, but I still have a ways to go.

9. Teaching is not just a job for me. It is something that I truly enjoy. Sure there are days I want to pull my hair out, but the good days outweigh the bad.

10. I love to watch my husband interact with my son. He is so good with Cale. It always melts my heart. I have been blessed with such a beautiful family.

Now, here are my 7 friends that I nominate.....

Hair Cut

Well it is offically time for Cale's first hair cut. I know, I know....he is not a year old yet. But we are not going to make it that long! I have done good to make it this long. He will be six months old next week, so we made it to his 1/2 birthday. That is close enough isnt it?

Here is a picture that proves my point perfectly...and it was taken almost a month ago!

I'm Back!

Bryan and I spent the weekend away in Pigeon Forge. We went with our church on a marriage retreat. It turned out to be super freezing cold, but we managed to survive.

It was a long weekend away from Cale. This was the first time that we left him over night....much less for 4 nights. By Sunday I was ready to be home with him. But we are definitely glad we went.

We actually left a day early so that we could go see Chad and Heather in Maryville. They had Friday off because of cold weather. They had an "Arctic air advisory" on Friday. Yeah, never heard of that one! So, we were able to spend the whole day with them before heading up to check in to our cabin.

We stayed in a cabin with Amy and Gannon. It was nice....I loved the fireplace and the king-sized bed most! Over the next couple of days we had a lot of free time to sight see during the day time and at night we had sessions.

On Saturday we went all gathered at the Apple Barn for breakfast.

From there we went with Amy and Gannon on a ride through the mountains and up to Cades Cove. We had many photo opportunities on the way up the mountains. They provide areas to pull off the road all up and down the mountain. So we pulled over several times to see snow and ice.

Caught the snow ball in mid-throw...and yes it hit me!

Here we are in Cades Cove.
It did not really snow the whole time we were there. But here is a picture of the snow that was coming down on the way home. I talked to Heather later that evening and she said that it snowed there all day! Wish we could have been there to enjoy it, but I was past ready to get home to my baby boy!

Packing!

Bryan and I are going out of town this weekend on a marriage retreat with our church. It will be the first time that we have left Cale overnight. Don't really want to think about that yet. But I did start packing for him tonight. Packing for a baby is so overwhelming!!!! There is just so much that they have to have. I figured that if I started packing tonight, that by Thursday when we leave, I am sure to have thought of everything that needs to be packed. Over the next few days I am anticipating having random thoughts pop into my head of .... "Oh yeah, I need to pack that" .... which is exactly why I started tonight. I will let you know how it goes :)

Playtime

Yesterday Cale and I went to visit my friend Heather and her little girl Kaylee Grace. Cale is only 3 weeks older than Kaylee Grace so they are about in the same place developmentally, which make it fun for us to share stories. Cale was very interested in her and kept wanting to touch her. He is going to be a ladies man, I can already tell :)

Harrison Ray Pickett

Tuesday, January 6, 2009 brought a beautiful new addition to the Pickett family. Jesse ("Dirty" as my husband calls him) and Kristin are great friends of ours and they were overjoyed that Harrison finally arrived.

He was born at 1:57 pm (via C-section)
He weighed 7 lbs 15 ozs
and was 19 1/2 inches long

Bryan and I are very excited for our boys to grow up together!

While we were at the hospital Cale and Hannah were flirting :) Here are some pictures of them loving on each other. It was so sweet.

Happy Birthday Papa

This past Sunday we all got together for Bryan's Dad's birthday. There is no shortage of love and attention for Cale when we are at Granny and Papa's house. He was passed from one person to another all night :)
